ABOUT OUR ARTISTIC PROGRAMS
Ontario Culture Days’ (ONCD) role is to foster public engagement with a vibrant Ontario arts, culture and heritage sector. To that end, we lead a province-wide festival, and support a wide network of organizers through communications, marketing, outreach and artistic programs. We lead and coordinate the Ontario Culture Days festival while supporting local organizers and affiliate national and provincial Culture Days organizations in an annual cross-country campaign. This year, the Ontario Culture Days Festival will take place between September 23rd to October 16th, 2022.
In addition to supporting independent organizers to participate in the annual festival, ONCD produces the Creatives in Residence series, and our longstanding ON Culture Days @ the Library program.
The Creatives in Residence series entails individuals working across to the province to develop a project, program or piece that relates to their own creative practice and invites the public into the creative process. Creatives’ projects culminate in community-based activities and exhibits presented during the 2022 fall festival. In addition to the Creatives in Residence series, ONCD produces the ON Culture Days @theLibrary program, which is a community-focused initiative connecting artists with Toronto Public Library branches to provide hands-on programming during the ONCD festival.
In 2022, all programs will highlight the core themes of the festival: access (or lack thereof) to resources such as food, community space, local history and technology.
